CyvOph shines in debut as Vitality dominate, BBL pulls off a clutch win in a rollercoaster Bo3
Opening Day of Stage 1: Vitality asserts dominance, BBL stuns KC in intense series
Stage 1 of the VCT EMEA kicked off with two very different stories. On one hand, GIANTX hoped to challenge one of the region’s titans, while on the other, Karmine Corp and BBL Esports collided in a banger of a series with massive implications. From roster shakeups to individual heroics, the first day set the tone — and made sure no one forgot that anything can happen in EMEA. Yes, even something like what happened in Caborca.
VIT vs GIANTX: CyvOph Era Begins With a Bang
The highly anticipated debut of Team Vitality’s revamped roster started with a curveball: Trexx was benched, making room for French talent Clément «CyvOph» Millard, formerly of Mandatory. This shift pushed Sayf into a flex role alongside Kicks, while Less rotated between Cypher and Viper.
Map 1 – Split (13-9 VIT):
GIANTX came in swinging, with westside dropping a solid 23/14/3 and 271 ACS. But it wasn’t enough to stop the well-oiled Vitality machine. Sayf was on fire (21 kills, 272 ACS), and CyvOph fit in like a glove. Every clutch went Vitality’s way, showcasing their ability to close rounds when it matters most.
Map 2 – Lotus (13-2 VIT):
Lotus was a stomp. CyvOph absolutely exploded with a 23/8/7 statline and a monstrous 384 ACS. GIANTX looked lost, overwhelmed by Vitality’s map control and confidence. It was a statement win, the kind that screams: We’re not just a superteam on paper.
BBL vs KC: Comebacks, Chokes, and Chaos
No changes on the Karmine Corp side, but BBL Esports made a bold call: benching Vekk and bringing in Martin “MAGNUM” Penkov, who ironically was previously dropped from KC.
Map 1 – Icebox (13-3 KC):
KC’s pick, and they made it look easy. Despite a shaky 1-3 start, they tightened up on defense and rolled over BBL. Elite (20/2, 318 ACS) and Avez (17/9, 306 ACS) were untouchable. This was a steamroll.
Map 2 – Pearl (13-11 BBL):
This is where it got wild. BBL came in sharp, taking an 8-4 lead at the half. But KC clawed back, fueled by a saadhaK triple kill mid-round while blind. The game nearly flipped at 12-11, but LewN’s Yoru ultimate combined with Jamppi’s clean-up ult clutch sealed the map for BBL.
Map 3 – Fracture (13-8 BBL):
Fracture was a tug of war. Both sides traded rounds, but KC’s attack faltered — uncoordinated and lacking firepower. BBL, meanwhile, kept pushing. With multiple players stepping up, they shut the door and walked away with the upset win.
Final Thoughts
Vitality’s debut with CyvOph was nothing short of dominant — their synergy, even with role swaps, looked polished. GIANTX has potential but couldn’t find answers. Meanwhile, BBL’s resilience and strategic depth stole the spotlight in their clash against Karmine Corp, who may need to look inward after a match that slipped from their fingers.
Let’s just say… they better not let things go like in Caborca next time.
