Tensions rise as the regular season nears its end
The action in the VCT 2025 EMEA Stage 1 keeps intensifying as the regular season draws to a close. On Day 1 of Week 4, two series stood out: Team Vitality clashed with Apeks in a matchup full of tension and contrast, while Team Liquid faced Movistar KOI in a do-or-die battle for both squads. With different playstyles but the same mission —to climb the standings— the four teams entered the server looking for key points. Here’s a full breakdown of what happened, map by map, including individual performances and standout moments.
Team Vitality vs Apeks
🗺️ Map 1: Ascent (Apeks’ pick)
Team Vitality came in like a storm on Ascent, setting the pace early and completely shutting down Apeks on their own map. The first half was a masterclass in defense, with VIT locking it down 11-1 behind incredible team coordination. Kicks had a monstrous performance, posting 318 ACS, 22 kills, a +11 differential, 94% KAST, and 190 ADR. Sayf also delivered with 254 ACS and a 16-11 K/D, while CyvOph had a flawless map on his end, with 100% KAST and crucial tactical support.
On the other side, only MOLSI showed signs of life with 14 kills, but it wasn’t enough against Vitality’s structured setup. The early fights were consistently in VIT’s favor, and their map control led to an overwhelming 13-5 win. Apeks simply couldn’t match Vitality in either execution or aim, and their attempts to adapt were thoroughly read and countered.

🗺️ Map 2: Split (Vitality’s pick)
Split told a different story —at least in the beginning. Apeks started strong on offense, claiming 9 rounds and showing excellent defensive rotations on one of their more solid maps. MOLSI and batujnax led the charge: MOLSI dropped 25 kills, 290 ACS, and 83% KAST, while batujnax added 21 frags with 259 ACS and a +2 differential.
But once sides switched, Vitality found their groove and delivered a brutal 10-1 run. Kicks and Less were the stars of the comeback with over 240 ACS and 20 kills each. Derke also helped with opening kills (+2 FK), though Sayf struggled with a 6-18 scoreline —fortunately, his teammates picked up the slack. Apeks had control but failed to close, and their defensive drop-off cost them the map. Vitality’s adaptability and composure sealed a hard-fought but deserved 2-0 victory.

Team Liquid vs Movistar KOI
🗺️ Map 1: Lotus (KOI’s pick)
Team Liquid opened strong on Lotus, though KOI looked much improved compared to previous matches. The first half was close, with TL holding a slight 7-5 lead. Despite KOI’s solid effort, Liquid’s attack proved more reliable and efficient.
Keiko stood out with 248 ACS and a 21-16 K/D, backed up by nAts and kamo, both showing 82% KAST and great map control. For KOI, soulcas and Filu each had 19 kills, but the team couldn’t convert their individual impact into round wins. Liquid was simply sharper in post-plants and team execution, closing the map 13-9 thanks to better reads and tighter team play.
🗺️ Map 2: Split (Liquid’s pick)
In Split, Team Liquid didn’t hold back. Their offensive side was dominant from the start, building an 8-4 lead before switching. kamo, always fired up against his former team, had a phenomenal showing with 261 ACS, 18-9 K/D, and 175 ADR. Keiko followed up with 260 ACS and a +4 differential, while paTiTek and nAts ensured consistency across the board.
KOI looked out of sync and lacked ideas, with grubi ending 8-16 (-8), and neither filu nor flyuh finding any rhythm in the second half. Liquid’s dominance was total, and they closed the map 13-5 to take the series 2-0, eliminating KOI’s playoff hopes in one of TL’s most convincing performances to date.
