Fnatic se ha mantenido aquí durante más de dos décadas, desde que se fundó este sueño en 2004. Escribo esto desde la trinchera de quien ha visto este sueño transformarse, pero también desde el nudo en la garganta de ver cómo hoy nos cuesta tanto reclamar el lugar que nos pertenece. Soy de la vieja guardia, y nuestra historia es un viaje de resistencia que merece ser contado con el respeto que cada disciplina se ha ganado.
El Camino de League of Legends: Donde Nacieron los Milagros y Se Templó el Dolor
Todo comenzó a consolidarse en aquel junio de 2011 en Jönköping, cuando el mundo conoció a Shushei (nuestro primer MVP), xPeke, Cyanide, LaMia y Mellisan. Ellos nos dieron la primera corona mundial de League of Legends en una final épica contra aAa, un equipo donde ya asomaban sOAZ y Yellowstar, los mismos que después formarían el Fnatic que todos guardamos como un tesoro en la memoria. En ese podio, el Sr. xPeke, con la caballerosidad que lo define, saludó y agradeció a xMom en el escenario tras ganar la Temporada 1; ahí entendimos que esto no era solo un equipo, era una familia.
Luego vino 2013, un año de pura resiliencia. Cómo olvidar aquellas semifinales del mundial en Los Ángeles, un torneo al que llegamos envueltos en incertidumbre tras la baja de Rekkles por restricciones de edad. Fue ahí donde apareció el entonces desconocido, pero hoy eternamente recordado PUSZU. Entró silencioso, cargó con la presión de todo un continente y nos llevó en hombros hasta el Top 4 del planeta, plantándole cara a los titanes asiáticos. Él demostró lo que significa vestir esta camiseta sin miedo.
Estuvimos ahí en 2014 para ver con una impotencia que aún quema cómo el nexo de OMG sobrevivía a 1 solo golpe, un «1 hit» que todavía escuece como una herida que no quiere cerrar.
Al año siguiente tocamos el cielo. Vivimos la gloria absoluta del 18-0 en el verano de 2015, una temporada perfecta que marcó la historia de la liga europea para siempre. Pero ese mismo año sufrimos la final de Estocolmo contra Origen; ver a nuestro propio capitán xPeke en el bando contrario fue una prueba de fuego para nuestra identidad.
Hemos pasado por el dolor de no ir a Worlds y la catarsis de ver a Rekkles salir del mundial tras cambiar de casa, un recordatorio amargo de que el escudo está siempre por encima de cualquier nombre. Pero resistimos. Estuvimos para el milagro del 4-4 en 2017, cuando remontamos un inicio de 0-3 en Worlds contra toda lógica y contra el mundo entero. Y volvimos a las grandes citas en la final de 2018 en Incheon, donde, aunque nos dolió el alma perderla, el orgullo de ver a Rekkles, Broxah y Bwipo pelear hasta el último aliento nos mantuvo en pie.
Años después, la vida nos dio una de las mayores alegrías: tenerlos en casa y poder verlos jugar en 2022 en nuestras tierras aztecas durante la fase de Play-Ins en la Ciudad de México. Fue una emoción indescriptible tener los colores tan cerca, aunque queda la espina y la lástima de saber que no les ayudó el taco buff para llegar más lejos en ese torneo.
Y entonces, entramos en la penumbra. Los años 2023, 2024, 2025 y este 2026 se convirtieron, para muchos de nosotros, en la Dark Era. Cuatro años de sequía absoluta en Europa, una travesía por el desierto donde vimos caer nuestra hegemonía regional. Sufrimos golpes durísimos, eliminaciones tempranas en grupos y dolorosas derrotas en fases suizas de Worlds que nos dejaron fuera de la verdadera pelea internacional. Ha sido un ciclo donde la gloria se sentía lejana, atrapados en un bucle de reconstrucciones y promesas rotas mientras veíamos a otros levantar los trofeos que solían ser nuestros. Una era oscura que ha probado los límites de nuestra paciencia, pero no de nuestra fe.
El Estándar de Oro de los Shooters: CS:GO y Valorant
Nuestra mística no se detiene en la grieta. No permito que nadie minimice lo que logramos en CS:GO. Fuimos la primera gran dinastía, los primeros en ganar tres Majors, comenzando precisamente desde aquel primer Major de la historia en DreamHack Winter 2013.
Consolidamos una hegemonía absoluta durante 2015 en Katowice y Colonia con olofmeister, JW, flusha, pronax y el eterno KRIMZ, quien hoy en Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) sigue manteniéndose firme como nuestra ancla veterana, cumpliendo ya más de 11 años representando con honor esta marca. Fuimos el estándar de oro del shooter mundial.
Ese fuego hoy vive en Valorant, donde recordamos la épica remontada del 3-11 en el LOCK//IN de São Paulo frente a LOUD en 2023, liderada por la mente de Boaster y el talento de Derke y Chronicle.
La Promesa de un Fan
Nuestra lealtad no es barata. No importa que nuestra economía no esté en euros; nos hemos dejado la quincena entera, el esfuerzo de todo nuestro mes, en esa playera original porque para nosotros no es mercancía, es nuestra piel. Hemos quemado datos en 3G y 4G en medio de la nada, nos hemos colgado de Wi-Fi públicos de dudosa seguridad y hemos pasado madrugadas enteras a las 3 AM solo para presenciar milagros. He faltado a eventos importantes por ver a este equipo, porque cuando Fnatic juega, el mundo se detiene. Este sentimiento es tan real que lo he visto en su máxima expresión: en la boda de unos amigos donde ambos, fanáticos a muerte, decidieron que el protocolo no importaba y sus jerseys de Fnatic estuvieron presentes en la celebración. Si el matrimonio es un compromiso de por vida, nuestra unión con estos colores no se queda atrás.
Hoy la historia nos obliga a mirar al frente en un escenario complejo para salir de esa sombra. La organización ha apostado por una renovación profunda en LoL bajo la dirección del entrenador GrabbZ, manteniendo a piezas centrales como nuestro jungla Razork e incorporando a jóvenes promesas como Vladi y Empyros para romper la maldición de la Dark Era.
Esta exigencia no es por egoísmo propio ni por el simple deseo de sentir una copa de nuevo en nuestras manos de «ancianos». Es por los nuevos. Es por esos fans que hoy solo oyen pláticas de glorias pasadas de veteranos como yo y que solo han conocido la crudeza de estos últimos años. Ellos merecen su propio trofeo. Merecen saber que Fnatic no es solo una marca de hardware o estilo de vida; es la casa de leyendas como nRated, que puso la mente en los inicios, o el propio PUSZU, que nos enseñó lo que es el honor en el momento más crítico. Los nuevos fans no deben vivir solo de cuentos sobre sOAZ, Yellowstar, Rekkles, Broxah o Bwipo. Ellos merecen ver con sus propios ojos cómo el naranja y negro vuelve a reclamar lo que le pertenece.
Queremos esa agresividad de vuelta. Nos duele ver al equipo hoy y sentir que falta esa chispa que nos hacía invencibles, justo ahora que los rumores y las noticias sobre una posible venta de la organización resuenan con fuerza en el ecosistema, recordándonos la fragilidad de las marcas frente a la inmortalidad de la pasión. Si los dueños cambian, si las oficinas se mudan, lo único que se mantendrá inmutable será esta grada que sobrevivió a los peores años. Queremos que el rival vuelva a temblar al ver nuestro escudo en la pantalla de carga. No solo por nosotros, sino para que la nueva generación entienda por qué decidimos entregarle nuestra vida, nuestro tiempo y nuestra quincena a esta organización.
Por los que estuvieron, por los que estamos y por los que recibirán la antorcha.
El que escribe esto solo es otro fan más. Algunos dirán que uno de los más apasionados, otros que me falta pasión, pero la realidad es que mi historia está ligada a estos colores. Gracias por leer y gracias infinitas a los casters Kuentin y raumlol, que fueron los que me enamoraron del casteo en castellano en la antigua ESL España. Sin ellos, este viaje no habría sido el mismo.

Fnatic has stood its ground here for over two decades, ever since this dream was founded back in 2004. I write this from the trenches of someone who has watched this dream transform, but also with a heavy heart, seeing how much it costs us today to reclaim the place that belongs to us. I belong to the old guard, and our history is a journey of resistance that deserves to be told with the respect that each discipline has earned.
The League of Legends Path: Where Miracles Were Born and Pain Was Tempered
It all began to consolidate back in June 2011 in Jönköping, when the world met Shushei (our first MVP), xPeke, Cyanide, LaMia, and Mellisan. They gave us the very first League of Legends World Championship in an epic final against aAa, a team that already featured sOAZ and Yellowstar, the exact same names who would later shape the Fnatic lineup we all hold as a treasure in our memories. On that podium, Mr. xPeke, with the chivalry that defines him, greeted and thanked xMom on stage after winning Season 1; right then and there, we understood this wasn’t just a team, it was a family.
Then came 2013, a year of pure resilience. How could we ever forget those World Championship semifinals in Los Angeles, a tournament we headed into wrapped in uncertainty following Rekkles’ absence due to age restrictions. That was when the then-unknown, but now eternally remembered PUSZU appeared. He stepped in silently, carried the pressure of an entire continent on his back, and bore us on his shoulders all the way to the global Top 4, standing toe-to-toe with the Asian titans. He showed us what it truly means to wear this jersey without fear.
We were there in 2014 to watch with a burning helplessness as OMG‘s nexus survived at 1 single hit, a blow that still stings like an open wound that refuses to close.
The very next year, we touched the sky. We lived the absolute glory of the 18-0 run in the summer of 2015, a flawless season that marked the history of the European league forever. Yet, that same year, we suffered the Stockholm final against Origen; seeing our own captain xPeke on the opposing side was a trial by fire for our identity.
We have endured the pain of missing out on Worlds, and the catharsis of watching Rekkles get knocked out of the tournament after moving houses—a bitter reminder that the shield always stands above any single name. But we resisted. We were there for the 4-4 miracle in 2017, pulling off a comeback from a 0-3 start at Worlds against all logic and against the entire world. And we returned to the grandest stages in the 2018 final in Incheon, where, though it broke our souls to lose it, the pride of watching Rekkles, Broxah, and Bwipo fight until their very last breath kept us standing.
Years later, life granted us one of our greatest joys: having you at home and being able to watch you play in 2022 on our Aztec soil during the Play-In stage in Mexico City. It was an indescribable thrill to have those colors so close, even if the thorn remains from knowing the taco buff didn’t help us go further in that tournament.
And then, we stepped into the shadows. The years 2023, 2024, 2025, and this 2026 turned, for many of us, into the Dark Era. Four years of absolute drought in Europe, a trek through the desert where we watched our regional hegemony crumble. We suffered devastating blows, early group stage exits, and painful losses in the Swiss stages of Worlds that left us completely out of the real international contention. It has been a cycle where glory felt distant, trapped in a loop of rebuilds and broken promises while we watched others lift the trophies that used to be ours. An era of darkness that has tested the absolute limits of our patience, but never our faith.
The Gold Standard of Shooters: CS:GO and Valorant
Our mystique does not stop at the rift. I won’t allow anyone to minimize what we achieved in CS:GO. We were the first true dynasty, the first ever to win three Majors, starting precisely from the first Major in history at DreamHack Winter 2013.
We cemented an absolute hegemony during 2015 in Katowice and Cologne with olofmeister, JW, flusha, pronax, and the eternal KRIMZ, who today in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) still stands firm as our veteran anchor, having marked over 11 years representing this brand with honor. We were the gold standard of the global shooter scene.
That fire lives on today in Valorant, where we remember the epic 3-11 comeback at the LOCK//IN in São Paulo against LOUD in 2023, spearheaded by the mind of Boaster and the talent of Derke and Chronicle.
A Fan’s Promise
Our loyalty doesn’t come cheap. It doesn’t matter that our economy isn’t in euros; we have dropped an entire paycheck, the hard work of our whole month, on that original jersey because to us it isn’t merchandise—it’s our skin. We have burned through mobile data on 3G and 4G networks out in the middle of nowhere, we have hooked ourselves up to sketchy public Wi-Fi setups with zero security, and we have spent entire nights awake at 3 AM just to witness miracles. I have missed major life events just to watch this team, because when Fnatic plays, the world stops. This feeling is so real that I’ve seen it manifest in its highest form: at a wedding of a couple of friends where both are such die-hard fans that, on their most special day, protocol was cast aside, and their Fnatic jerseys were right there during the celebration. If marriage is a lifelong vow, our bond with these colors doesn’t fall behind.
Today, history forces us to look ahead into a complex landscape to claw our way out of that shadow. The organization has bet on a deep overhaul in LoL under head coach GrabbZ, holding onto core pieces like our jungler Razork while bringing in young promises like Vladi and Empyros to shatter the curse of the Dark Era.
This demand isn’t out of simple selfishness or a desperate wish to feel a trophy in our hands as «old-timers.» It’s for the new ones. It’s for those fans who today only hear talk of past glories from veterans like me, and who have only known the raw bitterness of these recent years. They deserve their own trophy. They deserve to know that Fnatic isn’t just a hardware brand or a lifestyle statement; it’s the home of legends like nRated, who provided the brain in the early days, or PUSZU himself, who taught us what honor meant at our most critical hour. The new fans shouldn’t have to live solely off of tales about sOAZ, Yellowstar, Rekkles, Broxah, or Bwipo. They deserve to see with their own eyes how the orange and black reclaims what belongs to it.
We want that aggression back. It hurts to look at the team today and feel that the spark which made us invincible is missing, right at a time when rumors and news regarding a potential sale of the organization echo loudly across the ecosystem, reminding us of the fragility of brands against the immortality of passion. If the owners change, if the offices move, the only thing that will remain unyielding is this crowd that outlasted the worst of years. We want the enemy to tremble again when they see our shield on the loading screen. Not just for us, but so the new generation understands why we chose to hand over our lives, our time, and our paychecks to this organization.
For those who were, for those of us who are, and for those who will receive the torch.
The one writing this is just another fan. Some might call me one of the most passionate, others might say I lack passion entirely, but the reality is that my story is bound to these colors.
